One of the main projects that I took ownership of during my internship was the physician referral report. I heavily revised and re-ordered the document to streamline its ease of use. Additionally, I added a quick reference key to eliminate time that would otherwise be wasted while searching for data during business meetings with physicians. Towards the end of the month, I would receive a hard copy of referral data and input it into a spreadsheet. This document is of high importance to Upstate because it tracks the number of patients seen each month within the practice, analyzes referral trends, and helps to foster positive relationships with physicians outside the practice.
